The monitoring of large- to medium-sized mammals as part of Hamaarag project is carried out as part of the national monitoring program, using surveillance cameras.
The cameras are mounted in the field and activated by
means of a motion sensor, which enables the mammals’
activities to be monitored with minimal disturbance.
From the data obtained, various indicators relating to the mammals’
natural activities can be evaluated, including: activity density,
hours of activity, occupancy, presence and more.
These indicators point to the state of the ecosystem
and are used to examine the impact of human activities on the ecosystem.
